Here are some kid & teen projects we do in class.
“Paint and decorate a Keepsake Box”
Each young artist will paint the inside and outside of a box and get to glue and sculpt with modeling clay all sorts of neat stuff to make their box really special. You can put your personal treasures in your own art masterpiece.

                                  “Lets Make a Mobile”
Kids will paint both sides of a watercolor paper spiral combining watercolor and watercolor pencils on one side, and their choice of pastels, craypas, markers, glitter, paper mosaics, or tempera paint on the opposite side. They will learn about the artist Calder and make their own “Moving Art”.

                                  “I Love Abstract Art”
Each artist will paint a wonderful free form art masterpiece on a large piece of paper. They will learn how to mix colors, schmoosh and swirl using straws, squeeze bottles and different size brushes to move the paint around and create a modern work to go with the music!

                                              “Lets Make a Mini-World”
Each artist will get a box they can paint inside and out. They will then make an environment that will be a diorama of our story we read. Then they will decorate their “Mini World” with a myriad of great art materials.

“Make a Japanese Wind Puppet or a Carp Windsock”
Artists will paint on the coolest diffusing paper with liquid watercolors, paints, dyes, and markers (permanent and water-soluble). When dry they can add sequins, glitter, or wiggle eyes. This is a beautiful take home project! The kids will learn about kite flying, moving art and some Japanese art media.

“Jungle Art and Animal Fun Party”
Make an Animal Mask, Rhythm stick or collage with paint, paper mosaics, feathers, modeling clay, beads, gems, sticks and your imagination. Instead of your guests bringing a birthday gift you can have them bring a little gift for your local Animal Shelter or the Anti Cruelty Society like mini beds, blankets, pillows, or cat and dog foods, and treats.

                                       “Im a Fashion Designer now”
Each artist will get a t-shirt to paint with fabric paint and fabric markers. They can then embellish the edges by weaving ribbons in punched wholes. They can then snazzy up their shirt with glitter, buttons or beads!!! Older children will be introduced to dyes and the techniques of Batik and Tie-dye!

“I Love a great story about my Favorite Artist”
This party actually starts with a story on the floor. Then the artists go to their table a make a giant painting emulating the artists style. They will also learn the techniques used by that artist. Our library of stories for children about well known artists include: Georgia O’keefe, Claude Monet, Leonardo DiVinci, Marc Chagall, Henri Mattise, Vincent VanGogh, Gustuv Klimt, Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, and Mary Cassatt. Tell me more please!

“All about the Butterfly and Insect friends”
At this bug party the kids will paint a butterfly paper mobile or other buggies they can take home. If time allows they can create a mural of a butterfly and Honeybee garden that the birthday artist can take home as a beautiful memory art piece.

                        “The Uber Awesome Kaleidoscope Party”
Each artist will paint a wonderful real Kaleidoscope they put together and can keep as a beautiful conversation piece. They will make a drawing and painting of the Kaleidoscope patterns they create while learning about patterns, prisms and fractals.

“Sunflowers & VanGogh Still Life Party”
Each artist will receive a small flowerpot to paint, soil to fill the pot and a few Sunflower seeds. They will also paint a still-life of Sunflowers. They will learn some of Vincent VanGoghs techniques he used to paint his Sunflowers and we will read “Camille and the Sunflowers”.

                              “Sci-Fi Fun and Planet Party”
Artists will become outer space architects by using recycled materials, tech no-scraps, glue gun, wood, cardboard, marbles, string, buttons, and metallic paint to create Spaceships, Robots, Planets, and Aliens for a groovy gadget party!
